EFAFLEX EFA-EnergySaver wins Award for German Sustainability Projects 2026
The award recognises the innovative digital solution that helps businesses to demonstrably reduce their energy consumption, CO₂ emissions and costs.
BRUCKBERG. Making sustainability measurable and highlighting specific potential savings for customers: with this aim in mind, Jan Hauffe and Rebecca Hofstätter-Griss from the EFAFLEX sales team developed the digital tool EFA-EnergySaver. EFAFLEX has now been awarded the German Award for Sustainability Projects 2026 in the ‘Online Platform’ category for this innovative project.
The EFA-EnergySaver enables architects, planners and businesses to calculate their potential energy, CO₂ and cost savings with just a few inputs. It compares a conventional industrial sectional door with an EFAFLEX high-speed door. Specific and reliable savings potential is determined on the basis of individual factors such as weather data, the number of daily door openings and current energy prices. The application is based on a study by the Technical University of Munich and was developed in collaboration with external partners eigenmind GmbH from Berlin and Etanomics Service GmbH from Neu-Isenburg.
The web app, which has been available on the EFAFLEX website since 2023, is platform-independent, requires no installation and runs in a browser on all devices. It has been continuously developed since its launch. The third phase of development is currently in use, with further versions already in the pipeline. The aim is to provide customers with even more precise and meaningful data to support their investment decisions and help them analyse their operating costs. Winning the German Award for Sustainability Projects is a special honour for the team’s development work. A total of 433 projects were submitted across 19 categories, of which only 46 received awards. An independent jury comprising representatives from business, academia and the media assessed the submitted initiatives. The prize honours projects that, through innovative solutions, make a measurable contribution to greater sustainability whilst also generating economic benefits. The award ceremony took place on 17 September 2026 in Berlin.
