Official record for EFAFLEX: We are the fastest!

In what feels like the blink of an eye, the high-speed door is open – at an unprecedented speed. At more than 5 metres per second, the EFA-SRT® Flex opens faster than any other door before it – a world record!

And since 26 November, it’s official: EFAFLEX builds the fastest door in the world. ‘This speed is impressive,’ explains Olaf Kuchenbecker from the Record Institute for Germany (RID), the German counterpart to the Guinness Book of Records. ‘Visually, it’s a whole different world, because you don’t see this anywhere else.’ The record-breaking door is based on EFAFLEX’s patented spiral door technology, which guides the door leaf in a space-saving and virtually wear-free manner. In addition to extreme speeds, the design also enables maximum safety and energy efficiency.

‘For EFAFLEX, the world record is not just a number, but also a clear statement of the company’s development expertise, innovative strength and pioneering spirit,’ says Norbert Höfner, Head of Development.

To achieve the record, the team of five EFAFLEX employees took on the challenge of bringing a lightweight door leaf up to maximum speed in the shortest possible time and then braking it safely again in the same amount of time. True to the company’s claim of ‘fast and safe doors’. ‘At this speed, Efaflex is approaching the limits of what is physically possible,’ says Kuchenbecker. ‘This means that a speed limit has been reached that will be difficult to beat.’ However, in the course of his long record-breaking career, he has also learned that nothing is impossible.

For the moment, the world’s fastest door will not go into series production, but it will provide EFAFLEX with important insights for future developments. So that more people can experience this blink of an eye.
