The revolution in airport security checks

Innovative conveyor technology and safe interfaces between humans and machines

Gerold Bohaty, project manager and member of the core development team at Hörmann Klatt, provides insights into the company’s expertise and its successful collaboration with EFAFLEX. Hörmann Klatt specialises in the development and manufacture of customised conveyor technology and is one of the leading suppliers of special-purpose machinery for intralogistics, warehouse and airport systems.

The range of services includes belt and roller conveyors, tilting systems, sorters and complete baggage handling systems for airports. In cooperation with the Beumer Group, Hörmann Klatt Conveyors also offers comprehensive solutions in the areas of control technology, software development, maintenance and worldwide customer support.

Sectro: A new sector system for security checks

During the redevelopment of the innovative Sectro sector system for security checks at airports, Hörmann Klatt faced the challenge of creating a reliable and secure interface between humans and machines. An initial plan to develop a door system in-house proved impractical due to the high security requirements.

The market search for a suitable solution was initially unsuccessful – until EFAFLEX was brought on board as a partner. The decisive factor was the company’s willingness to develop a fully customised, safety-tested door system that was precisely tailored to the requirements of the Sectro system.

Customised door solutions from EFAFLEX

The high-performance doors supplied by EFAFLEX integrate seamlessly into the overall system. They are delivered ready to plug in and control and can be installed quickly and easily thanks to a specially developed mounting frame.

Gerold Bohaty emphasises that the Sectro system appears visually and functionally seamless, yet can still be used as a standalone security component. He is extremely satisfied with the collaboration and implementation to date.

Pilot phase and market launch

A pilot miniature version of the Sectro system is currently undergoing comprehensive in-house testing. Installation at the first airport in the German-speaking region is planned for mid-2026, where a one-year practical test will be carried out.
